Does Life Sometimes Feel Like Groundhog Day To You?

Just about every morning before I get up I look at what the weather is going be doing to my for the day, as it helps me plan what I am going to wear, carry and do for that day.

Is it going to be hot so I have to pack water bottles and ice creams in my portable fridges or freezing or do I need to take hot coffee?? Do I need to wear beanie or sunscreen?? Is it going to be so windy that I am going to be like Mary Poppins with all my portable lighting or still as a lake in the early morning?

These are very important questions I ask about the coming day and the days following as I need to make sure everything is taken into consideration for the success of the shoot and the comfort of the people I am working with,  be it a family, a wedding, board members of a large company, gala event, or even a conference with thousands of people attending.

Why I am telling you this by the way. 🙂

When I looked at today’s weather I noticed that it is almost identical to the same weather and time when I looked at a few days and it got me thinking.

Ground Hog Weather
Ground Hog Weather

Is it so bad that today is starting out and looking like it is going to be a repeat of the other day?  What happened the other day after I saw the weather? How did the day pan out? Was it good or bad?

All very important questions and ones I quickly asked and answered in my own head like a mad man talks to himself…. While the answers in themselves were not that amazing it was the act of self critiquing that I thought I would share. It is something that I do a lot,  after every shoot, event, or workshop I conduct.  After every meeting or interactions with key people and general people in my life.

It forms part or my personal and professional growth.

What are the areas you would like to see grow in your life and what do you do to make that happen or what first make that happen?

Are there areas in your photography that would like to improve in but not sure where to start?  Or other areas like post processing that you would like to pursue?

I would love to hear your stories as there may be things I can use or avoid in my life and business!

So please do share and comment below. 🙂

Mmmmm Fog…..

Boy I hate it when I see the forcast of fog and I don’t have any shoots going on when there is fog around… 🙁

I’m planning on doing a sports/fitness shoot in the morning fog but it is seeming tricky at the moment to get the timing right….

Well one this is true, it is going to pelt down rain over the comin days so if you wanted to get out and take advantage of the sun, today is the day to do that before we get hit with 20mm of rain.

I know last night is started prepping my riding gear for the rain by putting rainx on my visor on my helmet to give me better visibility in the up and coming weather.

I would suggest that if you have an outdoor event this weekend it might pay to look at wet weather ideas and if you have a wedding don’t sweat it.  My advise is, if you are game get some great formal photos in the rain as they come out fantastic.  It might take some extra lighting to really show some cool effects but if you photographer is skilled enough you will get some fantastic shots. 🙂

Yay for rain shots.

Mmmmm 5 degrees…..

Well at least we are going to have a top of 22 today which will be nice.

I am sure I will get to see some of it as I drive from place to place ducking in and out of shops to pick up supplies and drop off orders.

How did you go on the long weekend? Was it productive and enjoyable, what cool things did you get up to? And more importantly share some of your photos with me!

Planning to execution

Back in the ACT after a great couple of days on the road photographing some very spectacular places this county has to offer and look at the weather… Very nice.

As the weekend gets closer I start to move from a planning phase of shoots to the execution of the plan.

It’s a process I go through where I mentally walk through all the notes and ideas and start moving and putting things in place for the next shoot with the idea of the following shoots.

I have a studio shoot this afternoon so as I had my studio lighting with me on the road I now have to set that up with the idea it has to be taken down again for some on location shooting early Saturday morning, and shoots in the afternoon back in the studio.

Its going to be a crazy next few weeks and after months of planning it is always good to come to the shoot as I know that we are half way through the creative process.

Have you got things planned for the weekend with such fantastic Canberra weather?
