Early Morning Sneak Peek Number 1

As the photos come through the camera and onto my post processing I get a chance to look at the fruits of our labor and I must say what fruits we have from this mornings shoot… 🙂

What’s the Best Way to Learn Photography?

You probably already knew the answer to that question: there are a million and one ways to learn photography. Everyone has their own learning style, so there is no ‘one size fits all’ formula to plug yourself into and come out a great photographer. Maybe you’re the type who learns best by teaching yourself. Maybe blast through your learning curve when you have formal instruction. Maybe you need some combination of the two – some people do best combining internet learning and peer review together with taking a few workshops here and there.

So let’s hear it from you:

  • what are some your favorite ways to learn?
  • What are some of things about your camera that you haven’t quite mastered yet?
  • Where’s your edge and what’s the next level for you?

If there are enough folks wanting to learn a particular technique or style, we would be more than happy to give a workshop on it. But whatever way you choose to learn there’s one thing that stands true: you’ve got to practice, practice, practice. Get out there and shoot.

Planning to execution

Back in the ACT after a great couple of days on the road photographing some very spectacular places this county has to offer and look at the weather… Very nice.

As the weekend gets closer I start to move from a planning phase of shoots to the execution of the plan.

It’s a process I go through where I mentally walk through all the notes and ideas and start moving and putting things in place for the next shoot with the idea of the following shoots.

I have a studio shoot this afternoon so as I had my studio lighting with me on the road I now have to set that up with the idea it has to be taken down again for some on location shooting early Saturday morning, and shoots in the afternoon back in the studio.

Its going to be a crazy next few weeks and after months of planning it is always good to come to the shoot as I know that we are half way through the creative process.

What a wonderful week it is going to be!!!

For the next couple of days I get to go along travel in particular part of southern New South Wales along the Victorian border that I’ve never been before.

I will get to photograph some magnificent lakes and early-morning sunrises, while partaking in a cold drink while watching the sunset over the lake. One of the other things I’ll be doing will be catching up with the model which from all accounts doesn’t normally have access to photographers given her location. It should be an interesting experience for her and I, as I have never been to the location and I believe she will be bringing a whole heap of helium balloons along for the shoot.

I’ll also be taking along a friend to not only keep me company but also I will be putting him to work. 🙂

He is a budding landscape photographe and together we will be capturing some of these sunrises, while I pass on some of my knowledge in the short amount of time we will have.
So all in all it should be a fantastic week ahead, so if you don’t hear from me please don’t worry as I’ll be enjoying the best that this country has to offer.

And I hope I’ll be able to capture some unique images and bring them back to show all, hopefully it will inspire you to get out there in the early morning visit places which you may have never thought of visiting, so you too can capture the splendour that is Australia.
